Improve Every Single Day!
Create Your Powerful Identity
Let's say you wish to excel in the art of painting. Or open your own woodworking business. Or become a Filmmaker which I did many years ago. The key is to utilize a Powerful Identity in reframing your Focus. Let's stick with painter for the moment.
Use the words: "I am a painter." The powerful use of the "I am..." phrase welds this new outlook to you mentally, intellectually but, more importantly, emotionally. Why emotionally? When you talk about painting (or any very exciting goal), then you can feel the electrical excitement within your body and Being.
"Being" is the act of existing within this newly embraced identity. Then you grow and become.

You can see my Pistol & Knife form at approximately 10:31 here in the video from 2010. This is at Bryan Hawkins Kenpo Karate where I have studied Kenpo Karate for approximately over 35 years. The form is one that I created to advance in the system, utilizing Kenpo Karate principles. I use the form with the primary weapon as the firearm, duly guarded and using the knife for close-in drills. This is the training the Warrior phase!
This post is an excerpt from my course, “Creative Explorer: Scholar Warrior Is the Way" about your Morning Routine.
The Morning Routine sets up the day. If I were using your Morning Routine as the opening hook for screenwriting, would it be...

I am certainly hoping that you picked "Inspiration" ! My Morning sets up my entire day. Let's get into it!
First of all, you may not even be conscious of your Morning Routine. You may not even have heard the term "Morning Routine" before this course. So let's put some definition into the term in my words. You are FREE to create your own definition.
"Morning" - Defined
1. From 12am to Noon
"Routine" - Defined
1. a sequence of actions regularly followed; a fixed program
2. performed as part of a regular procedure rather than for a special reason
So the "Morning Routine" is when you arise from sleep between 12am to Noon and perform a sequence of actions! Now, you could be working on a nightshift so your clock is different. But, in general, this defines morning. Whew! Glad to get that out of the way.
Roll out of bed bleary eyed and running late already?
Stress starting up from minute one?
Check your phone for emails and notifications?
Do you control your phone...or does your phone control you?
If Your Mind (both your physical and mental state don't start off well in the morning, well, at one point in the day will you develop a positive focus?
ASSIGNMENT: Write down your current morning routine. Be honest! Because you're being honest with yourself!
You have to build up your new routine. Your routine is a ‘habit’ which is a recurring activity which you no longer think about and perform. This habit, of course, can be positive or negative. We seem to remember more of our negative/bad habits than our positive habits. Time to change that scenario in our heads.
Write down some current positive habits which might be:
Take an evening walk after dinner
Do jumping jacks in the afternoon.
Don’t put the salt shaker on the table anymore to reduce sodium consumption
Write in my journal instead of watching mindless TV.
These are habits which you no longer even think about. The strategy is to jumpstart your morning routine with three habits. Here’s an easy list.
Set the alarm 30 minutes earlier than normal
Start a good night routine - to make getting up early possible. (See other posts: The Art of Sleep)
Get out of bed and do some stretches for 5 minutes to light up my physicality.
Three items on your list to put into your Morning Routine. Use your current positive list to reinforce the mental sense of your own present accomplishment. Make this three part mini-effort happen for two weeks or a month. One month usually becomes a habit. Take it easy on yourself. Set yourself up for easy success to build upon, one brick at a time.
You will now have created a New Morning Routine.
